Application instructions

Prevosan anti-germ protection film is produced in rolls of different widths. The self- adhesive layer is wound directly onto the outside of the film without any intermediate layer.

Depending on the application we offer different standard widths:

50,100, 150, 250, 500, 1000 mm (special widths from 1000 m² on demand) The ready-made roll length is in general 25 m (special lengths on demand)

Adhesive force adjustment

Depending on the type of substrate on which the Prevosan film is to be temporarily applied, the Prevosan is equipped with different adhesives strengths.

The different properties are recognizable from the colour of the core.

Core colour green:                 Acrylate for full gloss sensible surfaces

(available at a later date or on request)

Core colour yellow:                Acrylate with high adhesion strength for smooth and slightly

matt surfaces such as glass, plastic, ceramics, painted metals, polished stainless steel, laminated panels, window handles, window profiles, door handles, smooth/painted handrails made of metal or wood, displays and touchscreens

Core colour orange:               Polymer for matt, embossed and structured surfaces

such as brushed/embossed metal surfaces like handrails, matt, rough wooden handrails, smooth textile surfaces (tablecloths), tables, structured worktops and furniture surfaces

Non-suitable surfaces or only after testing: seating surfaces, softly padded surfaces, car interior like dashboard and leather surfaces

To facilitate the decision in case of doubt, we recommend using the weaker adhesive rather than the stronger one.

The film is designed that it can be removed completely from the respective bonded surface during the 30-day period of use. During the period of use the film should be protected from excessive UV light irradiation.

If a Prevosan film with higher than necessary adhesive force was used for a sensitive surface or if the period of use has been exceeded, it could happen that in individual cases, residues may remain on the surfaces. These can usually be removed with mild detergents. In extreme cases with cleaners containing alcohol or benzine. A compatibility test must be carried out in advance on a discreet part of the surface.

Cleaning:

As PREVOSAN is “self-disinfecting”, damp cleaning with soapy water is sufficient. The film can also be cleaned with surface disinfectant. Due to the smooth inert PE surface, dirt can be easily removed. Since contamination generally improves the living conditions for germs, regular cleaning is recommended.

Application example stairway handrail:

The film is applied directly from the roll. First the film is fixed on one side, then pulled over the handrail with light tension and prefixed under light pressure. The adhesive film is cut off and then fixed to the railing over the entire surface and smoothed by hand. Wrinkles and air inclusions can be removed easily by peeling off and smoothing out again. Simple incisions in the film can be used to compensate fastening elements or curves. Avoid overstretching the film more than necessary, this may cause loss of adhesive properties and delamination from the surface.

Application example table or counter:

First unroll a larger piece of the film. Fix it at the edge of the table. Pull the film over the table with tension and fix it on the table/counter top while smoothing out by hand or an applicator, such as a wallpaper brush. Try to avoid wrinkles. Incidental wrinkles can be removed by partial detachment and re-fixing. Particularly good adhesion is achieved with higher contact pressure. It could be helpful to use an aid such as a plastic roller.

Application example door handle:

The film is best applied on the front side first. The width of film is selected so that the film is folded backwards around the handle in a second step and thereby fixed.

Application example door knob:

Here the use of a rather narrow roll is recommended. The adhesive strip is fixed on the front and cut off at the corners. Then the excess of the film is turned over.
